Competition proposal for a crèche and public park in Koekelberg, Brussels.
This proposal aims to keep as much green space on the site as possible. By not completely filling in the street's façade with built volume, we leave open an inviting entrance to the public park, bringing the greenery onto the sidewalk. The entrance of the crèche lies in the park, giving parents enough space to manoeuvre with strollers. The crèche has a rather small footprint but contains large terraces which connect to the park. It highly benefits from the natural light that comes into the building from three sides. The different crèche groups are efficiently designed, with play areas that flow over onto the terrace and sanitary areas from where the crèche workers have a full view on the playing children.
