A pavilion in a Brussels park.
A place for the neighborhood to come together — to have a drink, share a meal, hold a meeting, or simply enjoy the view in the sun. A sloping roof and efficient rainwater drainage form the starting point of this design, which is expressed in an architectural way. The roof extends with large overhangs on both sides, creating sheltered seating areas with views of the park.
No gutters are used, to avoid the risk of clogging and difficult maintenance (the pavilion is surrounded by trees). Instead, two large ridges channel the water towards the side façades, where it is discharged via a spout and allowed to infiltrate into the soil.
